A while back a group of friends and I played a game called Nanofictionary. It rocked. And I was good at it. Won every round. Yea me!

I couldn't stop talking about it and how much fun it was. A friend gave me my own copy of the game for Christmas so I could play whenever I wanted. I was so excited. I have played it about two or three times since.

Because I am so enthusiastic about it and do so well at it, nobody wants to play with me. I don't blame them. I once had a friend that loved chess. Wanted to play all the time. It was fun at first, until I discovered that I was never going to beat him. Ever. After that it just wasn't fun anymore.

No matter how fun a game is I think we all need to feel that we at least stand some kind of chance at actually winning it. Even if it is just because someone else made a mistake or was off their game a little. It's a cheesy way to win sometimes, but at least it is a win. No one likes to always lose.

So, what does this have to do with anything? Well, I'll tell you. Since I am trying to write (as opposed to trying to be a writer) and have had no luck at fiction so far, I thought I would change things up a bit. Why not take my love of Nanofictionary and use it to write a story instead of playing the game? Exercise the creative muscle. Fill up a few more pages with stuff that is only interesting to me. At least it will keep the dust off the cards.

And so begins the Nanofictions.

Every now and again as the mood strikes me I will draw up some random cards and write up the results here. They may be good. They may be bad. At least they will be short. But I will be amused. And that's the most important thing.
